Forcht Group of Kentucky - Companies that fit
Forcht Group of Kentucky is a group of 95 separate companies employing over 2,100 people. Our goal is to offer a variety of products and services that fit the needs of the customers, communities, and commonwealth we serve.
Our guiding philosophy is the vision of the corporation’s founder, Terry E. Forcht. Few people have the drive and determination to structure a company from the ground up like Mr. Forcht. Terry was born and raised in Louisville, KY, graduating from Shawnee High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctoral from the University of Louisville, and an MBA from the University of Miami at Florida. Shortly after graduating from U of L, Terry moved his family to Corbin, KY and began teaching classes at Cumberland College, now University of the Cumberlands. Around that same time, he founded his own law practice in Corbin.
Mr. Forcht’s first hands-on experience with banking came in 1972 when he was appointed to the board of directors of Corbin Deposit Bank and Trust Company. As his interest in community-based banking grew, Terry and a group of investors founded Tri-County National Bank in 1985, with $1.5 million in assets. As a testament to his business skills, that one community bank has now grown to 33 banking centers in 11 Kentucky counties – with over $1 billion in assets.
1972 was also the year Terry opened his first nursing home, Hillcrest Nursing Home in Corbin. Today, the Forcht Group owns nine nursing homes throughout southeast Kentucky.
While banking and nursing care may be the foundation upon which Terry Forcht built the Forcht Group of Kentucky, his entrepreneurial spirit has prompted him to expand his holdings into insurance, broadcasting, publishing, technology services, retail, equine, real estate, and construction.
With headquarters in Lexington and Corbin, Forcht Group of Kentucky has committed itself to continually serve our customers as "Companies That Fit".
