Lexington-based Forcht Bank announced today that long time Richmond banker, Bill Walters, has been named the bank’s new Market President for Madison County. Walters has spent the last 25 years managing banks in the county and for the last 13 years was President and CEO of Madison Bank.
“We are pleased to have Bill Walters join us as we expand into the Richmond market,” said Forcht Bank President Mark Boison. “Bill has a long and distinguished career serving Madison County. He is an experienced community banker that fits well with our approach to banking.” Mr. Walter’s initial focus will be to oversee the construction of Forcht Bank’s first Madison County banking center. The facility will be located at the main entranceway into Richmond Centre off Barnes Mill Road (KY 876). Groundbreaking for the site will occur soon. “We look forward to continuing our efforts in serving the financial needs of Madison Countians. Our plans include constructing a convenient branch network as soon as possible,” said Walters.
Mr. Walters founded Madison Bank and Madison Financial Corporation in 1997. During his tenure, he saw the asset level grow to $150 million. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Richmond Bank and Trust for 11 years. He is currently Chairman of the Pattie A. Clay Regional Medical Center Foundation and is on the hospital’s Board of Directors. Walters is a graduate of the LSU Banking School of the South and received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from Eastern Kentucky University.
